ABOUT US 

          The Association for integration of refugees and migrants is a legal entity registered on 22 July 2004 as a civil initiative under the Law for non-profit legal entities. It operates as a non-profit, non-political organization, for the promotion of social and cultural integration of recognized refugees and migrants.Founders of the Association are social workers, lawyers, journalists, teachers, students.

          Since May 2008 AIRM is a member of the Bulgarian Refugee Council.

                              Main objectives of the Association:

• Dissemination of international experience and best practices for adaptation and integration of refugees and migrants;

• Implementation of international and European standards in the social work with refugees and migrants;
   

• Assistance in the process of elaborating a long-term national strategy for integration of refugees and migrants in the Bulgarian society;
   

• Active participation in the efforts to strengthen the dialogue within the civil society on the problems related to refugees and migrants;
   

• Assistance for better integration of refugees and migrants into the Bulgarian society;
   

• Presenting the issues of refugees and migrants before the society;
   

• Training of representatives of governmental, non-governmental sector and local authorities on all aspects of the social work with refugees and migrants;
   

• Assistance for improvement of the coordination system between the governmental and non-governmental institutions as regards the issues of refugees and migrants in Bulgaria;
   

• Joining the efforts of the state and the society to guarantee the protection of refugees and migrants against all forms of discrimination, racism and xenophobia;
   

• Active participation in the process of building a sustainable network of governmental and non-governmental organizations, dealing with refugees and migrants at national, regional and European level;
   

• Strengthening the cooperation at national level of non-governmental sector with the relevant International organizations.
  
  Activities of the Association to achieve its objectives
   

• Development of models for integration and components of the national strategy for integration of refugees and migrants;
   

• Development of projects and programs for integration and adaptation of refugees and migrants in the Bulgarian society.
   

• Realization of cooperation and interaction with governmental and non-governmental organizations working with refugees and migrants, at national and international level;
   

• Launching fundraising campaigns for realization of projects and programs related to problems resolution regarding the adaptation and integration of refugees and migrants;

• Research on all aspects of adaptation and integration of refugees and migrants;
   

• Participation in international programs and projects;
   

• Launching information campaigns on the international commitments of the Republic of Bulgaria in the field of migration and asylum, as well as on the basic rights and obligations of refugees and migrants;
   

• Launching information campaigns for prevention of discriminatory, racist and xenophobic behavior towards refugees and migrants;
   

• Organizing training courses for refugees and migrants on Bulgarian language, history, traditions and culture, the role of the Bulgarian state institutions, local authorities and NGO's;
   

• Providing expertise on the rights and obligations of refugees and migrants in the Republic of Bulgaria;
   

• Organizing courses on development of national and transnational projects with EU funding (development, implementation, evaluation and reporting of projects);
   

• Providing expertise on application for EU financial assistance (funds, projects, programs, access, requirements, resources, cooperation).
